Spring Clean Your Kitchen Like a Pro
The time for spring cleaning is fast approaching once again. It can be quite daunting to look at a massive list of tasks that need to be done in all areas of the house, so let’s start by narrowing in on the kitchen. Here are some tips to get you spring cleaning like a pro.
Work from top to bottom
The best way to go about your kitchen spring cleaning is by starting from the top and working your way down. When cleaning out higher surfaces, you may have dust and dirt falling off and getting into the lower spaces, which would defeat the purpose of cleaning those first. Dust off the top of the fridge, cabinets, ceiling fans, and light fixtures. Wipe down windows and remove curtains for washing as well.
Take everything out
Even if you think a cabinet or part of your fridge doesn’t need to be cleaned, it does. Take everything out of your cabinets and drawers and give it a nice wipe-down. While you’re taking things out, this is a great opportunity to purge and get rid of anything you don’t use anymore or any food that has expired. You can also use this opportunity to reorganize ensuring frequently used items more easily accessible.
Check your appliances
The appliances you use regularly such as the coffee maker, toaster, dishwasher, and oven are bound to have some build-up and debris that require a good cleaning. Take this time to perform any maintenance and run cleaning cycles, clean out filters, empty trays, and give all of your appliances a thorough cleaning.
Don’t forget the rest
Give your table and chairs proper cleaning, and not just the top surfaces. The underneath and legs should be tackled as well. Thoroughly wash and dry your trash can and recycling bins, disinfect your sink, and wash the linens. Once all of that is complete, vacuum and mop the floors to gather any mess from the previous tasks.
