Spring Cleaning Tips for Your Kitchen
The warmer weather is finally upon us, which means it’s time to get rid of all the dust, grime and mess that has built up in your home during the wintertime. The kitchen is one of the busiest areas in every home. It’s where we gather with the family and prepare our meals every single day. A top-to-bottom clean can be a daunting task, but nothing beats a spotless kitchen. Here are some tips to help you get started. Happy spring cleaning!
- Work from top to bottom—literally. Start by dusting off the tops of cupboards, fridge and light fixtures to avoid getting dust on surfaces you just cleaned.
- Empty drawers and cupboards of cutlery, silverware, pots, pans, dishes and appliances. Wipe the insides with a towel and soapy water. Don’t forget to clean your cutlery organizers because those tend to get grimy as well.
- Purge and organize your pantry and fridge. Start by disposing all items that have already passed their expiry date. Sort through the items that are safe to eat, and if you know you won’t be eating them, bring them to a local food bank.
- Wipe down and disinfect all surfaces in the kitchen: countertops, islands, chairs, cabinetry doors, handles, sink and faucet. Also disinfect the exterior of your appliances including the fridge, microwave and oven.
- Counters often gets cluttered with lots of miscellaneous items. Before wiping them down, take this opportunity to sort everything out and toss the things that are taking up unnecessary space.
