Our 5 Favourite Kitchen Design Apps

Using an intuitive app can help your kitchen design (or redesign) go much smoother. It’ll help you visualize the finished space in a way that once only architects and designers with specialized software could. In addition to design suggestions and insights, many apps also link you to products or features that suit your space.

Whether you’re managing a tricky do-it-yourself project or trying to explain to your vision to the pros, there are dozens of kitchen design apps out there. Here are a few of our favourites.

1. Planner 5D

This app is amazing for DIY projects. If you have a specific vision in mind for what you would like your kitchen to look like, this will help. The app is free to download and has several free functions such as 2D angles, a variety of home décor, and customizable design and size parameters to accurately represent your space. Premium access is $24, but it gets you 3D angles, presentation features, larger furniture collection and more.

2. 20/20 Kitchen Design Software (by Home Hardware)

This app is great for clients looking to show their contractor, builder, or design professional their ideal finished kitchen. This app allows you to measure the space, adding decorations, ventilation, and electrical fixtures. It also has a shopping cart feature, so you can directly purchase those extras, helping DIYers stay within their ideal budget. This app is also free.

3. Eklipse Design Software (by Lowes)

This kitchen design template is one of several that Lowes offers. Others include bathrooms, bedrooms, living rooms, and more.
